Often, facials are used to correct signs of aging (i.e., wrinkles, fine lines, dryness), improve sun-damaged skin (dark spots, uneven tone and texture), deep cleanse clogged pores, and brighten dull and sallow skin. Professional facials are also designed to help teens or adults with chronic conditions like acne outbreaks, sensitive skin, and rosacea.

How Do Chemical Peels, Facials, and Microdermabrasion Work?

Your treatment will begin by cleansing your face of any dirt, oil, or makeup. From there, we will begin your treatment, each of which is slightly different.

  • Chemical Peel or VI Peel: We'll start by massaging the chemical solution into your skin and allow it to set for a pre-determined amount of time depending on the condition of your skin. We'll follow that up by washing off the peel and applying a neutralizing agent. Over the next few days to a week, your skill will start to peel and flake off, revealing new and healthy skin.
  • Facial: We will use steam to open your pores so we can easily extract any whiteheads or blackheads from your skin. We'll then exfoliate your skin, either by hand or through microdermabrasion or a chemical peel. We'll finish off by applying a serum or mask to nourish your skin.
  • Microdermabrasion: We will pass the microdermabrasion handheld device over your skin, which will polish your skin and suck up dead skin cells. We'll clean your skin to remove any remaining residues and then apply a moisturizer.

Whether you have a chemical peel, facial, microdermabrasion, or a combination of treatments, you can get on with your daily routine after your treatment. You may notice your face is red and irritated, but this is normal and will subside on its own. You may have more irritation or longer-lasting side effects if you had a deeper-level peel. We suggest visiting our office regularly for follow-up treatments to maintain your healthy, glowing skin.

Chemical Peels

Based on the type of chemical peel you receive, you can expect your face to itch and peel for several days to a couple of weeks. A Lake Buena Vista Aesthetics team member will go over how to care for your face during your procedure. Remember that no matter how badly your skin itches during the recovery, it is not good to pull the skin off. You could create scarring on your delicate skin!

Facials

Following your treatment, you may notice some redness and irritation — this should fade naturally in a day. Many patients will see clear improvements in the look and feel of their complexion immediately after their facial. To maintain and enhance the results of your professional facial, talk to one of our skilled team members for advice about developing a home skin care routine and how frequently you can have a facial treatment at Lake Buena Vista Aesthetics.

Microdermabrasion

After your microdermabrasion procedure, you can resume your regular routine as long as you apply some form of sun protection since your skin will be susceptible to sun damage. Your face should feel softer, and the tone should be brighter and more even. Lake Buena Vista Aesthetics recommends getting a microdermabrasion treatment every 4 – 6 weeks to prolong your results. Many Lake Buena Vista Aesthetics patients feel that after microdermabrasion treatments, their home skin care products ( especially lotions and creams ) soak easily into the skin for better results.

About Us
How much does a chemical peel cost?

Dr. Nawaz or Seemi Nawaz can go over your costs during your consultation as soon as they’ve made your personalized treatment plan. Costs for a chemical peel will vary depending on the level you choose. Lake Buena Vista Aesthetics accepts several payment methods, and you can ask about current specials on facial treatments like chemical peels. You may also consider buying a package of several chemical peel treatments.

What level should I choose for my chemical peel?

Which level of chemical peel is best for you will depend on your specific skin needs and aesthetic goals. During your initial consultation with Dr. Nawaz, he can help you decide which chemical peel is best for your skin. A few factors you might want to consider are your overall health, the type of skin you have, the depth of your skin concerns, the time you can commit to recovery, and what you want the peel to accomplish. For first-time patients, it may be better to try a light peel and decide how you like the results. From there, you and Dr. Nawaz may tweak your treatment plan to decide the best type of peel for your skin.

Should I get a chemical peel or dermabrasion treatment?

Chemical peels and dermabrasion are both facial rejuvenation procedures that correct surface imperfections to make your skin a smoother appearance. The main difference is that dermabrasion requires special tools (a shaving instrument or rotating brush ) to clear away the top layer of skin with a careful exfoliating process. A chemical peel uses a caustic solution that is applied to your skin to dissolve dead skin cells. In your initial consultation, Dr. Nawaz will discuss the pros and cons of both options and help you decide whether dermabrasion or a chemical peel is better to achieve your needs and goals.

Will my face hurt after a chemical peel?

Based on the peel selected, you might have some discomfort throughout the treatment and shortly after. If you get a light peel, you will feel some stinging; however, this goes away quickly with a handheld fan. Deep or medium peels are good for deeper skin issues and offer results that last a long time, but they are usually cause greater discomfort. Numbing cream, skin medications, and soothing ointments may be applied to help you feel more comfortable during the chemical peel. Dr. Nawaz or a member of his team will discuss how to care for your skin after a peel to maintain your results.
