What is a PDO Thread Lift?

If you've noticed signs of aging, but don't want a surgical procedure like a facelift, you might want to consider a PDO thread lift at Lake Buena Vista Aesthetics. The PDO thread lift is a minimally invasive procedure that uses PDO (polydioxanone) threads to reduce sagging skin on the face for a more youthful appearance. The threads, made from a biodegradable material, dissolve into the skin and stimulate the body's natural collagen production for firmer skin over time. With little downtime, we suggests this procedure for many of our Windermere and Kissimmee, FL patients who are looking to create a smoother, firmer, youthful appearance. What Can I Expect During a PDO Thread Lift?

During an initial consultation at Lake Buena Vista Aesthetics, we will review your skin and go over your desired outcomes so we can create a unique treatment plan to meet your needs and goals. At our Orlando, FL office, PDO thread lifts generally take around one hour. We'll first apply a local anesthetic to help keep you comfortable during your treatment. From there, we'll use a fine needle to pull the threads from one part of the face to another. Then, we will gently tug on the threads to create a lifted appearance. After your procedure, you'll likely have some swelling and bruising. This will subside on its own over the coming days. Over the net 6 – 8 months, you'll notice a rejuvenated appearance to your skin as the collagen continues to develop. After about 12 – 18 months, your threads will dissolve into your skin.

This is the best place. No soreness swelling or even pain at injection sight. Highly recommend! Your work is done by a highly rated surgeon and it’s not overpriced!

I have tried this establishment twice now. Once in December and once in January. They never try to sell you more than you need. The posts regarding the time are true. The wait is always ridiculously long, even when you are the only one in the building. However, not injecting more than what you need is a real bonus. I look forward to coming back.

How long does a PDO thread lift last?

The longevity of your results can vary from six months to several years. Younger skin tends to have longer-lasting effects of 3 – 4 years, while older skin or those with reduced skin elasticity or volume will see their results diminish after only one or two years. PDO threads dissolve faster than other types of thread lift materials, which means that the effects fade faster.

What are some of the complications associated with PDO thread lifts?

Compared to facelift surgeries, PDO thread lifts have a much lower risk of complications. Minor complications can occur in about 15 – 20 percent of patients. Some risks include:

  • Pain and inflammation
  • Bruising and hematomas
  • Infection and sepsis
  • Visible or breaking threads
What is the recovery time and are there any restrictions?

The PDO thread lift has a short recovery period of 24 – 48 hours. Most people can return to their regular daily activities immediately after the procedure. You should avoid rubbing your face so that you don’t dislodge the thread. We advise you to keep mouth movements to a minimum. This means for the first several weeks, you should avoid smoking, drinking through a straw, and pursing your lips. Don’t sleep on your side–prop your head up with a pillow to prevent side sleeping. Also, try to avoid intense heat and exercise for the first couple of weeks.
